Week 3

By Chelsea Woo

Introduction

Hey everyone! This week, we’re excited to share some updates on our journey with Harmony. Our team has been diving deep into research, analyzing the competition, and refining the design to ensure our app truly embodies the values of community, connection, and care. At the heart of it all, we’re committed to building an app that caregivers and families can trust.

Beyond the hard work, we’ve also been having some fun—taking group photos for the blog and fine-tuning the CSS to make sure everything looks just right. We’re creating new content every week to keep you in the loop, and we can’t wait to show you how far we’ve come. Here’s what we’ve been up to!

Research

Our Research team has been heard at work wrapping up interviews and documenting the insights we’ve gathered with the goal of completing our User Research this week. We’re also exploring additional sources to really understand the caregiving landscape. By combining interviews with our secondary research, we’re building a solid foundation to make sure Harmony meets the unique needs of caregivers and families.

Competitive Analysis

The Competitive Analysis team has finished our evaluation matrix, giving us a clearer picture of with other caregivers apps are offering. This deep dive has been super valuable for identifying where Harmony can shine and bring something fresh to the table. We’re excited about how our app can stand out and offer unique support to caregivers.

Design and Ideation

On the design side, we’re nearing the finish line with out User Flow, User Story Map, and Site Map. The team is now advancing through the Lo-Fi wireframe stage, which feels like we’re bringing Harmony to life! This process has been all about visualizing how users will interact with the app, and we’re excited to keep building and see it come together.

Sandbox

Over in the Sandbox, our team has been experimenting with Solid and exploring different component libraries. We’ve set up our GitHub repository and started divvying up tasks. We hit a few snags with compatibility—Radix and Shadcn didn’t play nicely with Solid—but after some digging, we found a solution with Shadcn Solid that suits our needs perfectly. It all part of the process!

Next Steps

As we continue to develop Harmony, each team is moving forward with their respective tasks to ensure we create an app that complements and supports caregivers is their daily routines.

Full Stack team

The FSWD team is setting up tasks based on our project divisions. Team members are focusing on specific areas, for features such as Authentication, Team Management, Journal, Calendar, and Harmony AI, with primary and secondary responsibilities allocated, This setup allows us to effectively tackle development tasks and keep things on track.

Design Team

The Design team is diving into the next steps of branding and visual design. Our focus is on narrowing down a design style that is easy to understand and navigate, with minimal learning curve. Since caregiving is both exhausting and emotionally taxing we aim to build a trustworthy brand and app. By designing with familiar and recognizable functionalities, we hope to create a user experience that feels intuitive and supportive, allowing caregivers to feel confidence as they carry our their unique caregiving routines.
